there could be a path by the sand stone bridge where you put both hands on to get the swimming ability then when you
put both hand on you would have to swim down to the end of the river and put your hand on the other bridge to get the swimming ability this way when some one drops something into the river they can just jump down and swim to get it back there could also be a air bar so they cant just be down there forever

My idea of swimming is more of like the climbing tower.
A new area with a lake and in the middle of the lake is a half sunken fort and you need to build a bridge to reach the fort.
Inside the fort you will have a orb like with climbing and then you can start going down a staircase where there is a maze.
The maze is split into 5 sections: first one is half underwater just not enough to stand, second is fully underwater with plenty of breading holes in the ceiling, third is with less breading holes, fourth is very dark with only the holes lit up and fifth maze is also dark but with even less holes.
Doing section 1 of the maze gives you the ability to swim, section 2 makes you able to dive underwater and then 3, 4 and 5 gives you more air to stay underwater.
The swimming mechanic rely on both stamina and air (new bar), then there are 2 ways for swimming, one normal (maybe butterfly stroke) that drains your stamina very slowly and then a fast one (maybe front crawl) that drains your stamina fast and being underwater drains your air bar.
Also a big one, you can only have 1 move skill (the orb will show in each skill shrine to the right in that holder), so either climbing or swimming to present a choice and makes you bring people with the other move skill with you on journies.

Ngl smart idea but know that the tower took a long while adding something new with more areas trying to map out ideas etc would prob take a lot of a little bit longer and than it did for the tower

I’d like to also suggest since the township is a mountainous region whichmaking swimming not as viable other than the couple ponds and rivers but to make it more expansive and usable add underwater caves. Taking some inspiration from “the forest vr” I though it would be cool to have a whole network of underwater caves that can be looted or find some marine type of ore and you find yourself diving down deeper and deeper looking for pockets of air to survive. Lore wise it can fit right in since it does “seem” like the rivers currently in a township disappear into something… maybe that underwater cave formation.

I have an idea where there is some sort of swimming trial and you gain the abillity to swim and you can swim a very short distance to get to a very small island that is sort of like the hebios camps, providing cool items such as a fishing rod (if fishing is added to the game of course).
