Crossbow

It would be made of multiple parts in the carpentry building like a shield, but rope would need to be attached, then a sight could be made at blacksmith with the player being able to get sand/ using sandstone in the blacksmith to make glass to put in the sight.
Instead of arrows, bolts could be made as well in the carpentry building.
The crossbow would be much more expensive to make but much more powerful and able to be used with bow and arrow skills, with skills requiring you to hold the bow back being turned into skills that require the user to hold down the trigger

Adding to this idea for a crossbow, but with a more mechanical reasoning why it's not likely to use skills from the Archery shrine... Because it's a crafter's toy!
Crossbows and Bowguns are tools you can play around with by mix and matching working parts, all made with wood and metal, which impacts how it shoots and what sort of ammo it loads.
You can load bolts if you use a regular piece of part for the body, but if you use a different body that is much more portable to fit and operate using one hand, you can turn it into the Slinger like from Monster Hunter World!
Sling Gotera cores or Turabada cores at targets, or rocks/flints/ores! It's basically a more mechanized version of a slingshot! Heck allow us to reuse the slingshot as a recipe for this part, to attach it to your crossbow base and reuse it.
But with the Crossbow itself, it can be modified to be a one handed size for mini bolts, or a Larger Arbalest sized one to launch arrows and even bigger objects using two hands.
With this idea, you can implement Plant Fibers of different quality that can be dropped from trees, or gathered from plantable crops. The fibers can be turned into different quality strings for the bow and crossbow which can impact the draw strength and durability.
Parts can differ vastly, like how do you 'draw' the string? With a free hand? How do you fire it? Using the trigger? What if there is a 'crank' functionality in the weapon where it draws the string for you and more effectively? What if there's a bipod or 'staking' function where you can mount it onto surfaces like a mini ballista to lay siege on something?
To mount the weapon onto a surface you can reuse wooden stakes, you just need a working 'part' attached to the body of your crossbow to make it attachable to stakes. It will stick out from it allowing you to grab the stake to remove the crossbow (the wooden stake will pop off of it rather than being fused with it).
If you grab the weapon while it's mounted you can pivot it and use it normally.
