Drop support for the weakest headset on the market so the team can focus on PCVR content and optimize the game easier for Quest 2.
We're growing tired of having to wait for development of the Quest version of the game to catch up with the PCVR version. It has been ages and so far all we have gotten is that the Tower (1/3 of this quest port) is almost done.
I have been charitable over the past 2 years and spoke about how people shouldn't be as entitled or whiny about the development of A Township Tale because game development takes time, and the developers at Alta are people too; however, it has become impossible to defend Alta due to the fact that you (the developers at Alta) have been trying to drag Quest along when it is clear that the incompetence of the Quest headset is going to be the demise of this game.
Stop chasing after something that is going to kill your game.

Hey! SeaBreeze here. Before I start, I’ve seen a few other reports like this, just not involving the new headset, As a Quest 3 owner, I’d like to see support dropped for the Quest 1. The Quest 2 and especially the new Quest 3 have so many abilities in terms of graphics and performance. Games like “Dungeons of Eternity” prove my point more than well. With the weak Quest 1 still being supported, it waters down the game just so it’s playable on this weak headset. Let’s be honest, no one really plays

ATT on a Quest 1 anymore. Alta needs to utilize the tools they’ve been given, and drop the weak headset and make updates to improve ATT on the Quest 2 and 3. The game could be so much better, with both graphics and performance. Thanks y’all and please, do consider upvoting this. Let’s get Alta’s attention!

This begs the question though, ATT still supports the Quest 1? I thought it was stupid back then obviously but Q1 is STILL an option to play ATT?

Cody_Alta I'm just saying that it is ridiculous that Quest 1 is still supported in the year 2024. Especially since (imo) it was ridiculous then when this post was made.

i agree with this, the quest 1 really does limit the potential for the standalone version. not even Meta supports the headset anymore.

It would also be nice for the quest 2 to get a graphical upgrade as it just stays the same with the quest 1. It probably can't handle the graphics of a pc, but it can handle much more than the first quest.

dude there like 1/3 of the community that uses the quest 1 if they did this they would loess a lot of player and servers would be even more dead

I highly doubt Quest 1 has any affect on the speed of development lol, all it does is limit the graphical and environment complexity possible.

Fyre: Does "Environment Complexity" apply to physics? The Q2 server physics are a little iffy and if dropping a dead platform means saving my blood, sweat, and tear-infused stews from spilling and my hoarder's bag from entering the stratosphere, I think it might be worth it in the long run.

Warentan: Not at all, those physics are entirely server end and up to the developers to fix (not involving the dropping of a platform) either through better netcode or physically better server hardware.

I also don't think it's fair to call the Quest 1 a dead platform when it still gets the vast majority of new game releases and updates. It's still a very capable platform.

Fyre: The Quest 1 has absorbed more than a year of Alta's time. They've only just now finished the tower port. They had to spend months training new developers.

Combat Trials and especially the forest are going to take even longer, and keep new content from rolling out.

Sev: I really hope that you can do some research and learn that them having to code stuff the the quest is going to take time regardless of if it’s quest 1 or 2 what you need to remember is that there is no specific quest 1 or 2 version there is only quest and pc and you really shouldn’t try to cut off that part of the community just because you think it will help when it won’t just be patient like the rest of us

Echo_Thefox: I have been patient for years now. 😆 And yes, the quest is holding back the entire quest version of the game back, and also yes, I understand there is not two different versions for quest 1 and 2. That being said, quest 1s crash after a certain threshold of players, and is literally significantly weaker than the quest 2. So yes, it is dragging the rest of us down with it since they have to optimize the quest version of the game (taking lots of dev resources) so much so that the quest 1 can keep up.

Don't lecture me on being patient. I am not a new face around here.
